Kappa Puzhukk | Kerala style Tapioca Recipe

KAPPA PUZHUKKU 


Preparation time : 15 minutes

Cooking time : 20 minutes

Total - 35 minutes

 

Ingredients:

To  cook Tapioca

Cleaned Tapioca / Kappa - 2 kg ( cut into small pieces)
Salt to taste 
Turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp
Curry leaves 
Water - 5 cups

For grinding

Grated coconut - 2 cup
Cumin seeds - 1 tsp
Turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp
Green chilli - 5 ( Adjust according to your taste)
curry leaves - 
Shallots / small onion - 1/2 cup

For tempering

Coconut oil - 3 Tbsp
Chopped shallots - 2 Tbsp
Dried red chilli - 3
curry leaves

Method:

1. Soak cleaned tapioca for 10 minutes in water. drain the water.

2. Transfer tapioca to a pressure cooker. Add water , salt , turmeric powder and curry leaves to it. Close the pressure cooker with lid . Put on the weight and cook for 2 whistles on medium heat or until the tapioca become soft.

3. In to mixer add the ingredients listed in " for grinding" and make a coarse mixture.

4. Open the pressure after the pressure inside cooker had gone completely , and add the coconut mixture. Mix well. You can adjust the gravy as per your taste. If you don't want gravy then discard water from tapioca and then add the coconut mixture. 

5. Mix well and cook for 3 minutes. 

6. For tempering, add coconut oil into a heated pan. When oil heat up add chopped onion and saute for 3 minutes or until it become golden colour. Add dried red chilli and curry leaves. mix well . Add this tempering to tapioca and mix well.

7. Tapioca puzukku / curry is ready to serve. You can eat it alone. The best combination is kappa puzhukku and fish curry😋😋😋

Homemade Pineapple Jam recipe  Ingredients: Pineapple puree - 2 Cup Sugar - 1 & 1/2 cup Pineapple essence - 1/8 tsp Lemon juice - 1/4 tsp     Method : 1. Cut the pineapple and add into a mixer . Vatta Curry / Kerala Style Malabar Travelly fish curry/ Fish curry with coconut milk

KERALA STYLE MALABAR TRAVELLY FISH CURRY ( VATTA CURRY) INGREDIENTS: Cleaned fish - 400 g kokum/ kudampuli - 2 pieces Coconut oil - 2tbsp Fenugreek powder - 1/4 tsp Sliced Shallots - 1/2 cup Crushed ginger & garlic - 1tbsp Green chilli - 2 nos (according to your spice level) Thick Coconut milk - 2 cup Red chili powder - 2 tsp Turmeric powder -  1/4 tsp Coriander powder- 1.5 tbsp Curry leaves - 2 spring METHOD: 1.    Wash and soak kokum in 1/2 cup of water for 10 minutes. 2.    Heat a pot and add coconut oil. When oil heat up add shallots and saute well. Add crushed ginger & garlic and saute it for a minute. 3.     Keep the stove in low heat. Add fenugreek powder,red chili powder  and coriander powder.
