Easy Bun recipe | Eggless homemade Bun
Preparation time 20 minutes + 90 minutes for leavening the dough
Cooking time - 15 to 20 minutes
Ingredients:
All purpose flour - 2 Cup
Active dry yeast - 2 tsp
Sugar - 1 Tbsp
Salt - 1/2 tsp
Lukewarm Milk - 3/4 cup + 2 Tbsp for milk wash
Melted Butter / Oil - 2 Tbsp
Method:
- Into a mixing bowl add 3/4 cup lukewarm milk , yeast, sugar and salt. Mix well. Cover and keep it aside for 10 minutes. Let the yeast activate. You can see the mixture bubbles and can smell yeasty aroma.
- Into a large mixing bowl, add all purpose flour, yeast mixture and Oil . Knead for 10 to 15 minutes — by hand, mixer, or bread machine — to make a soft, smooth dough. Grease the dough with butter / oil.
-
Cover the dough, and let it rise for 1 to 2 hours, or until it's nearly doubled in bulk. Gently deflate the dough, and divide it into 8 pieces. Shape
each piece into a round ball . Place the buns
on a lightly greased or parchment-lined baking sheet, cover, and let
rise for about 30 minutes or an hour, until noticeably puffy.
- Brush the buns with milk or melted butter.
- Bake the buns in a preheated 180 C oven for 15 to 20 minutes, until golden. Remove them from the oven, and brush with the melted butter / Oil. This will give the buns a satiny, buttery crust.
- Cool the buns on a rack.
